National Archives II

Location: College Park, MD

Completed in the mid-late 1990’s, this archival facility used Spacesaver® mobile systems to store the nation’s most precious historical documents, pictures, microfilm and cartographic materials. The 1.7 million square foot state-of-the-art facility was approved for construction in 1991 to supplement the original National Archives, located in Washington, D.C. It is now known as the world’s largest and most technically advanced archival facility, housing over 2.3 million cubic feet of material compacted with Spacesaver® systems.
